DAY 1 : ARRIVAL / LAOAG TOUR

10:45 AM ETA in Laoag, "The Sunshine City of The North ". Meet with local guide.
Transfers to Fort Ilocandia for check-in / Free

St. Williams Cathedral & Sinking Belltower - Built in 1612 by the Augustinians this church has an Italian Renaissance design. Its unique 2-storey facade is held by four pairs of coupled columns. The deeply recessed niche shows the image of the Patron Saint of Laoag City. A hundred meters away from the St. William's Cathedral, one will see a tower that has sunk to the ground and leans slightly to the north.

Tobacco Monopoly Monument - constructed to serve as a memorial to the lifting of the Tobacco Monopoly which from 1872 to 1881 gave the Ilocos untold miseries when they were obliged to plant tobacco to be delivered solely to the government.

Malacanang of the North- Built as the official residence of then President Marcos in Ilocos Norte, overlooking the legendary Paoay Lake, this imposing structure is now a museum.

Paoay Church - Built in 1704, this unique Gothic-Baroque-Oriental inspired church is made of coral blocks and stucco-plastered bricks. Nearby is the coralstone belltower which served as observation post of the "Katipuneros" during the Philippine Revolution. Paoay Church is included in the UNESCO's World Heritage List.

Marcos Museum, Mausoleum ( Balay Ti ili ) - The ancestral house of the Marcoses in Batac showcases the memorabilia of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos. Here you will find the remains of the late president in a refrigerated crypt.

 

DAY 2 : ILOCOS NORTE TOUR

Tour Hightlights :
Cape Bojeador Lighthouse - The highest lighthouse in the Philippines, built in 1892, it stands on a promontory in Burgos, 45 kilometers north of Laoag City. It still sends out signals to ships passing by the Cape facing the northern portion of the South China Sea.

Patapat Viaduct- A 1.3 kilometers of elevated highway, 31 meters above sea level, the viaduct connects the Maharlika Highway to the Cagayan Valley Region. Motorists are treated to the spectacular view of the

Bangui Wind Farm - A 15winds turbines standing 70 meters tall, this 25-megawatts wind power generation plant is the first wind power plant in the Philippines and in the Southeast Asia. This facility provides 40% of the power plant requirement for Ilocos Norte.

Bangui- Pagudpud Beaches- This stretch of beaches in 2 municipalities are the pride of Ilocos Norte and are earmarked for development as tourism estate.

6:00 PM Return to the Resort. Overnight.

Tour Hightlights :
Heritage Walk to the 189 Ancestral Homes - Join the heritage walk along Vigan's cobblestone old streets to admire the ancestral homes, which are designed for specific purposes. The puerta (main doors) is wide enough to accommodate the width of the caruaje (horse-drawn carriage ) and high enough for the carroza (carriage-mounted religious images) into a zaguan or hall. The inhabitants of the house can let visitors in by pulling a string from the second floor to open a puertita (smaller door) hinged to the main door.

National Museum / Padre Burgos House - The Burgos residence in Vigan houses the memorabilia of the martyr-priest Jose Burgos as well as Ilocano artifacts and ethnic arts of the Tinggians.

Crisologo Museum-The museum houses the memorabilia of the Crisologos and original furnishings of a typical Vigan ancestral house. The Crisologos are the most prominent politicians in Vigan.

Syquia Museum- Houses the memorablia of Pres. Elpidio Quirino

Baluarte de Chavit- Features a mini zoo, a butterly garden and a palomino ride.

Pagburnayan- where traditional burnay jars made of terracotta are made to perfection.

 

 


DAY 4 : FORT ILOCANDIA / DEPARTURE
6:30 AM Buffet Breakfast inside hotel
7:30 AM Free time to enjoy the FORT ILOCANDIA
A destination in itself, the grounds and exterior of the resort are beautiful. The exterior was all brick and the vast expanse of lawn was meticulously groomed. They have an Olympic-length swimming pool and two lagoons. They have a mini zoo with ostriches, monkeys, a bearcat, snakes, eagles, etc. In one part of the resort, you will find pictures of Fort Ilocandia's famous visitors, from diplomats to beauty queens. The hotel was built during the reign of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos who is from Ilocos. The lobby, hallways and grounds showcases artwork, particularly paintings and sculptures.
